Scouting Beer – Steady Eddie by Union Craft Brewing Company

Several weeks ago, while my wife was doing some holiday shopping, she dropped me off at Adult Day Care, better known as a local bar, to pass the time.  As I studied their beer list, I noticed a new beer to their menu, specifically Steady Eddie by Union Craft Brewing Company.  This brew was made in homage to legendary Baltimore Orioles’ slugger and baseball Hall of Famer, Eddie Murray.

With a connection to baseball and because NatsGM.com proudly supports local breweries, I figured I would write an article scouting this beer.  Using a modified version of the 20-80 scouting scale, I held an impromptu beer tasting that afternoon to evaluate this IPA.  Below are my grades and thoughts on this unique ale.

Marketing & Presentation:         NatsGM – 60

The can has the traditional Orioles’ colors of orange and black, with an off-white color for the background.  I would describe it’s appearance as somewhat subdued, with some of Eddie Murray’s greatest accomplishments, surrounding facts about the beer.

In addition, on the side of the can, the beer is described as “…This unique Wheat IPA is an all-star player on your spring and summer roster.  So when you’re in the clutch, call up Steady Eddie.  Always ready.  Always steady”.  While I appreciated the understated nature of the can, much like its namesake Eddie Murray, I do wish it had a picture of Eddie in action or something else to spice it up a bit.

Appearance & Aroma:                  NatsGM –       65

The medicine have very fast action time and last up to 4-6 hours. online prescription viagra without If you have any of these aforementioned psychological problems, cialis online without prescription you need consume one Lawax capsule and one Vital M-40 capsule daily twice with milk or plain water for two to three months to cure early discharge. This Indian Pale Ale looks and smells delightful when poured into a proper glass.  It has a beautiful dark orange, almost copper color, and a haziness that makes the beer almost completely opaque.  It possesses a flowery and citrusy scent, with hints of honey and pine.  The beer has a medium-to-large off-white foamy head, where the majority of the aroma originates.

Flavor & Taste:                             NatsGM –       60

This beer has a pleasant, crisp, and almost refreshing flavor.  It has a hoppy flavor to begin, then the honey quickly takes the edge off the Green Bullet, Azacca and Sorachi Ace hops to produce a smooth finish.  I enjoyed how the honey paired with the hops and counterbalanced each other, but for the non-honey fans, it might be a bit much for you.  Despite the 7% ABV and 80 IBUs, this was not an overwhelming IPA, as I found it easy to drink and anticipated much lower numbers.

Overall:                               NatsGM –        65

I greatly enjoyed this delicious, well-made beer by Union Craft Brewing from Baltimore, Maryland.  I would recommend this to my fellow IPA fans, as the honey twist on this style of beer was rare and rather delicious.  The honey flavor would make it difficult to drink several in one sitting, as would the 7% ABV.  But any fan of IPAs or the Baltimore Orioles would appreciate this tasty brew.

The beer is presently out of season, but it comes in a six-pack of 12 ounce cans, and costs approximately $11-12 dollars, making this a solid value for a craft beer of this quality.  Make sure to look for Steady Eddie at your local retailer, and you will certainly be a hit at your fantasy baseball drafts this spring.
